How To Write and Sell Your Own e-Book
by Michael Cheney
More and more people are starting to realize that one of the best
ways to generate revenue on the Internet is to write and sell your own e-Book.
It’s a lot easier than you think.
The first step you’ll need to take is focusing on a key area that is
of interest and passion to you. There’s no point in starting to write
a book and trying to sell it if it’s not something you are passionately
interested in.
Writing a book itself can be a bit of a task, but there are some shortcuts
you can take. One idea is to approach existing authors and ask to use their
work as part of the book. This helps you get a larger book quickly.
You could also contact some leading figures in your sector and ask them for
case studies, stories or background information on their own businesses. In
return, they would get coverage in your book and maybe links through to their
website and you’d get the free content. This way you end up with original
and unique content from trusted sources in your sector and it is a great way
to start getting a book pulled together very quickly.
Alternatively, if you don’t want to write a book or create a book at
all, what you can do is use an existing e-Book. There are lots of e-Books on
the Internet that are for sale or
that you can use with permission without having to pay at all. These e-Books
work by actually including affiliate links within them so that the original
authors get paid every time someone clicks on a link and orders something. You
can get the rights to redistribute these books and either put a price tag on
them or include your own affiliate links somewhere in the book.
So there are different routes to take, from actually creating your own e-Book
to getting one off the shelf. But once the e-Book itself is ready you’ll
need to get a cover for it.
Having an actual image of a product, even though it’s a virtual product,
has a dramatic effect on how many you will sell and your ability to convince
visitors to your website that the product is worth investing in.
There are some great pieces of software that will actually create e-Book covers
for you. You could also use a graphic designer to create your e-Book cover,
but this could be very expensive and time consuming. The main benefits to getting
an excellent e-Book cover are that it’s easier, not just for you to sell
your book, but it also makes it easier for affiliates that you may have to promote
your book as well. When your e-Book cover actually looks like a physical product,
people will be more encouraged to actually buy from you.
Once you have your e-Book ready and you have your e-Book cover, you then need
to start the promotion in earnest and there are a myriad of ways that you can
promote an e-Book online. These might include: link building, search engine
optimization, promotion in ezines, advertising online with Pay Per Click, and
search engine placement.
There’s a long road ahead, but here are some resources to help you out
with creating your e-Book and getting your e-Book cover.
