How to Get Great Content for Your Website
by Michael Cheney
Quite simply, the more content you have on your website, the more phrases you’ll
have on your site and the more traffic you will attract from search engines.
You can think of every page of content on your website as a potential landmine.
The more landmines you have out there the more chances you have of hitting a
potential target. Obviously we’re not talking about blowing up your visitors,
but we are talking about getting the most amount of content possible; highly
relevant, high quality content.
The more pages of content you have, the more key phrases there will be on your
website, which basically means the more chances you have to be found and well
ranked in the search engines. It’s by no mistake that people always say
‘content is king’. Words are what sell products and services, not
images.
It is words that attract search engines to your website, so the more words
and content you have on your site the better your search engine traffic. It
is words and articles that actually contain your key phrases and these are the
hooks which draw people in. Words on your website attract buyers and convince
prospects to become leads, and great words on your website can win over bad
design and other negative aspects. Simply put, the more sector relevant words
you have on your website the more successful you’ll be in online marketing.
So words matter, but where do you get high quality words by the bucket load?
There are various sources of content open to you as a webmaster. Some of them
take time, some of them take money. Some of them take both and some of them
take neither. What you need to decide is where you need to pitch your content.
At one end of the spectrum you have content that is free and doesn’t
take much time to create. That content can come from your visitors. The creation
of a forum, for example, is a great way to get free content that takes very
little time.
The downside about content from a forum is that the quality isn’t always
the greatest. If you’ve got a lot of time, but not much money, you can
create the articles yourself. You can start writing content for your website
and posting it up, but obviously this takes time.
If you don’t have time but you do have cash to invest in outsourcing,
you can pay somebody else to write articles for you. There are lots of great
places you can chose online to actually find outsourced individuals who will
write articles for you with great copyrighting skills.
Alternatively, you can use free articles. There are lots of websites online
that offer you free articles that you can use directly on your website. All
you need to do is copy the article in its entirety and paste it into your website.
You do, however, need to include the author biog box.
The other thing to know about using free content like this is its duplication.
Many other website owners will be using the same article which means it will
be very difficult to get ranked for that page.
So remember, focus on getting high quality relevant content and seriously consider
outsourcing. It can be a lot cheaper than you think!
